Untethered & Unseen: The Mysterious Life of Hilma af Klint
Glen Echo Park | May 2-4, 2024
In this experiential and participatory performance, audiences will be guided through tableau moments from Swedish Artist Hilma af Klint's (1862-1944) life as a spiritual medium, powerhouse female artist, and founder of the abstract art movement. Her story, largely unknown and untold, is still unfolding today. Hilma af Klint was a pioneer and female force in a male dominated modern art world, paving the way for many other abstract artists including Kandinsky, Malevich, and Mondrian.
Audiences will be immersed in dance and interdisciplinary storytelling with choreography by Keira Hart-Mendoza and dancers, original musical composition and performance by Robin Ghertner, and video by Nitsan Scharf and Chandler Bramstedt. This project is brought to you through a partnership with Glen Echo Park and funded in part by the Arts & Humanities Council of Montgomery County MD.

Thursday, May 2nd @ 6pm/ 7:30pm / 9pm
Friday, May 3rd @ 6pm/ 7:30pm / 9pm
Saturday, May 4th @ 6pm/ 7:30pm / 9pm
(Performance length is approximately 45 minutes)
Audiences will be limited to groups of no more than 20 for any given performance. There will be no walk-up tickets available! Please reserve tickets ahead of time to secure your spot in this unique performance series.

The performance will be held in the BACK BALLROOM at GLEN ECHO PARK (next to the Spanish Ballroom) https://glenechopark.org/directions
5801 Oxford Road, Glen Echo, MD 20812 (This address takes you to the parking lot with ample free parking. Please add 5 minutes to walk into the park and locate show performance in the Back Ballroom. There will be signs)
