UpRooted Dance's Summer Front Yard Structured Improvisation
This outdoor site-specific structured improvisation was designed "covid-friendly" with lots of social distancing. The hula hoops symbolize our own little personal space bubbles. However, we wanted to dance together with others separately and safely. Performers include: Rachael Appold, Emily Crews, Matthew Cumbie, Elena Day, Jamie Doughty, and Keira Hart-Mendoza with music by Mark H Taiko. Mark was responding to the dancers and vice versa throughout the improvisation.
Hand in Hand was created as part of the Mosaic Moves Video Dance Installation by Keira Hart-Mendoza and Sharon Crissinger. The video was part of a travelling installation project that was housed both at the Westfield Wheaton Montgomery Mall in Maryland and at Dance Place in 2016. The project was funded by the Arts & Humanities Council of Montgomery County as part of the Wheaton Cultural Initiative.
